Marko Laakkonen

Marko Laakkonen is a highly experienced professional in the field of chemical engineering, currently serving as a Sr Principal Scientist at Kemira since October 2014, where responsibilities include process modeling, product development, sustainability initiatives, and project management. Prior roles at Kemira also involved principal and senior research scientist functions focused on conceptual design, modeling, simulation, and plant support. Previous experience includes a position as a researcher at Taminco, focusing on formic acid and formamide technology, and as a research scientist at Neste Oil, contributing to the development of NExBTL renewable diesel technology. Early career experience includes process design engineering at Neste Jacobs Oy and research at Aalto University, culminating in a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Aalto University.
