Maya Reyes

Maya Reyes is an experienced staff columnist for What The F Magazine, contributing insights on the intersections of race, gender, and sexuality since September 2017. In parallel, Maya serves as a research assistant at the University of Michigan Medical School, facilitating patient recruitment for the SARA research study and authoring a recruitment manual for the SafERteens study. As a CDC Undergraduate Public Health Scholar at the Kennedy Krieger Institute, Maya engages in analysis of health disparities alongside professionals from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Johns Hopkins. Previous experience includes a public health internship at the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, developing a cultural competency module, and support roles in public health research at the University of Michigan. Maya's educational background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Health, Society, and Women's Studies from the University of Michigan, complemented by foundational training in STEM from Secaucus High School.
