In addition to his current tenure, Mr. Carlton previously served as Chair of the Board of Directors from 2014 to 2018. Mr. Carlton’s leadership experience includes 16 years with Kennedy/Jenks, providing professional technical and management experience in the field of environmental engineering.
Gary has professional technical and management experience in the field of environmental engineering, including expertise in surface water and groundwater hydrologic studies; assessments of secondary- and tertiary-treated wastewater discharges to determine chemical, biological and bacteriological impacts on beneficial uses of surface and groundwater; and planning, design, construction, and operation of innovative, individual on-site wastewater treatment and disposal systems. His experience also includes producing environmental impact reports and feasibility studies for major wastewater management and land development projects. He has served as an expert witness to legal teams involving toxic tort and insurance recovery litigation.
Before joining Kennedy Jenks, Gary was a co-founder of McLaren Environmental Engineering Corporation, Gary established seven new offices to expand the company from a single office with $10 million in annual sales to a national firm with annual sales of $60 million. He later served as CEO responsible for management o McLaren/Hart US operations with annual sales of $90 million and 15 consulting offices located in major US cities.
Gary also served as an Executive Officer on the California Regional Water quality Control Board, Central Valley Region, in Sacramento, CA, and appointed by governor as a member of the State Water Resources Board that oversaw all regional boards and developed statewide water policy.
