Kentucky Shakespeare Festival

We use the works of Shakespeare to enrich our community through accessible, professional, theatre experiences that educate, inspire, and entertain people of all ages. We believe that art is for everyone, not just for those who can afford the price of a ticket; and that Shakespeare's works are a great learning lesson of the human condition. As the official state Shakespeare festival, Kentucky Shakespeare offers FREE performances in June & July in historic Old Louisville's Central Park. The C. Douglas Ramey Amphitheatre seats over 1000 audience members and is completely wheelchair accessible. Central Park is located at the corner of 4th & Magnolia in Louisville, KY. The Festival also has extensive education outreach programs, including summer camps for 5-18 year olds, a prison program at Luther Luckett Correctional Complex in Oldham County,KY, professional development programs for teachers and K-12 education outreach programs that have reached all 120 counties in Kentucky as well as surrounding states. Kentucky Shakespeare Festival is the oldest free, professional, independently-operating Shakespeare Festival in North America.
