Bill Butterfield has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Bill started their career in 1980 as a Bar Manager at The Richmond Hotel and later worked as a Manager at West Thebarton Hotel. In 1984, they became a Bar Manager at The Talbot Hotel, followed by a role as Bar Manager at Aces Tavern from 1986 to 1988.

In 1985, Bill transitioned to a new field and worked as a Tram/Bus operator at Transadelaide until 2000. Bill then moved on to Nemer Dairy where they served as a Dairy Manager from 2000 to 2003. In 2003, they became a Bus Driver at Southlink and remained in this role until 2010.

Seeking new opportunities, Bill joined Jerilderie Park Stud in 1995 as a Partnership member, where they stayed until 2005.
