Tegan Hughes has a diverse work experience in the communications and engagement field. Tegan started their career as a Community Liaison Officer at Macmahon in June 2012, where they worked until March 2013. Tegan then joined Downer in March 2013 as a Community Liaison Manager for the Gosford Passing Loops Project, where they successfully led various community initiatives. In March 2015, Tegan transitioned to the role of Communications and Stakeholder Manager at Downer until May 2017. Currently, they work at Keolis Downer as a Communications and Engagement Manager, a position they have held since April 2016.

Tegan Hughes began their education in 2009, attending the University of Newcastle. Tegan obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Communication and Media Studies during their time there, which lasted until 2011. In the same year, they also pursued a Public Relations Cert IV at TAFE NSW, focusing on Public Relations and Image Management.
