Karim Merchant

Karim Merchant, MD, is a Pulmonary and Critical Care Physician at Kern Medical since August 2025, following a pulmonary and critical care fellowship at Keck Medicine of USC from July 2022 to June 2025. Prior to this, Karim completed an Internal Medicine Residency at Loyola Medicine from June 2019 to June 2022. Karim earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in 2019 and a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 2014. During academic tenure at UC Berkeley, Karim contributed to research in the Carlos Bustamante Biochemistry Lab and served as a physics tutor and Industrial Relations Committee Chair for Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society. Additional volunteer experience includes working at The Surgery Center of Alta Bates Summit Medical Center and research at UCLA's Allan Wu Lab.
