Senior Research Director at Keros Therapeutics

Samuel Cadena has a strong background in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry. Samuel is currently working as a Research Director at Keros Therapeutics since April 2022. Prior to this, they spent over 11 years at Novartis, where they held the position of Senior Principal Scientist. In this role, Samuel led various small molecule and biologics programs as a project lead, collaborating with multi-disciplinary and multi-site teams. Samuel was responsible for designing and implementing disease relevant cell, rodent, and zebrafish models for genetic and LMW screens to identify new targets for drug discovery. Samuel also evaluated pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic profiles of LMWs and therapeutic proteins in clinically translational PKPD models. Prior to Novartis, they worked as a Scientist at Acceleron Pharma from September 2007 to October 2010.

Samuel Cadena has a strong educational background in the field of Nutrition and Biochemistry. Samuel obtained their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Nutrition/Dietetics from The University of New Mexico, where they studied from 1994 to 2000. Following that, they pursued higher education at Tufts University, where they completed their Master of Science (MS) in Nutritional Biochemistry and Metabolism from 2001 to 2003. Samuel Cadena continued their academic journey at Tufts University and obtained a PhD in Nutritional Biochemistry and Metabolism, with a focus on Physiology, from 2003 to 2007.
