Tim Gruhl has a diverse work experience. Tim began their career in 2003 as a Research Assistant at the University of Michigan. In 2005, they returned to the University of Michigan in the same role. In 2006, they began working as a Teaching Assistant at Arizona State University and as an Engineer at Peter D Motorsports. In 2007, they worked as an Engineer at Phoenix Race Cars. In 2009, they began working at Lockheed Martin as a Systems Engineer, where they were the principal architect of multiple levels of security avionics hardware and high performance sensor processing on carrier-launched UAVs. In 2015, they co-founded Kersplody, where they served as the CTO.
Tim Gruhl holds a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in Systems Engineering from Arizona State University, as well as a BSME in Mechanical Engineering from the same institution. In 2021, they completed a Certificate in Additive Manufacturing for Innovative Design and Production from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Tim also holds a Principles of Project Management Certificate from The Versatile Company, a Systems Engineering 201: Principles and Practices Certificate from Lockheed Martin, a Welding Certificate from Washtenaw Community College, and an Auto Design Certificate from College for Creative Studies.
