Niilo Latva-Pukkila

Niilo Latva-Pukkila's work experience begins in 2011 when they worked as a Research Assistant at Tampere University of Technology. In 2012, they had two roles as a Summer Trainee at the Finnish Meteorological Institute, where they focused on modeling the total amount of ozone in the middle and upper atmosphere. From October 2012 to December 2013, they served as a part-time Teaching Assistant at the University of Jyväskylä. In 2013, they returned to the Finnish Meteorological Institute as a Summer Trainee, continuing their work on long atmospheric time series.

In 2014, Niilo began working at Kesko - K-Group, a Finnish retail conglomerate. Initially, they worked as an Analyst before being promoted to a Senior Data Analyst in 2016. As a Senior Data Analyst, they used advanced analytics tools to find valuable insights in data and helped various levels of the organization make better decisions to enhance the customer experience. In 2018, Niilo was appointed as the Chief Data Scientist and Team Lead, responsible for leading the development team building an artificial intelligence solution called K AI to assist and inspire customers in their daily needs.

Niilo Latva-Pukkila completed a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Statistics from the University of Jyväskylä from 2009 to 2013. Niilo then pursued a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Statistics at the same university from 2013 to 2014. In 2011 to 2012, they also studied at Maynooth University as an ERASMUS student, focusing on Statistics and Computer Science. In 2018, they obtained a certification in Deep Learning Specialization from Coursera.
