Joonas Rahkola has a diverse work experience in various roles within government organizations and financial institutions. Joonas started their career as an Economist at the Central Organization of Finnish Trade Unions SAK in 2008 and worked there until 2014. During this time, they also served as a Special Adviser to the Minister of Finance at the Ministry of Finance of Finland from 2014 to 2015. After that, they became a Board Member at the Unemployment Insurance Fund (TVR) and Deputy Board Member at Veritas Pension Insurance Company from 2013 to 2014.
In 2015, Rahkola returned to the Central Organization of Finnish Trade Unions SAK as an Economist and worked there until 2016. Joonas then took on roles as a Board Member at the Unemployment Insurance Fund (TVR) and Deputy Board Member at Veritas Pension Insurance Company in the same year.
From 2017 to 2019, Rahkola worked as an Economist and Head of the economic policy unit at the Social Democratic Parliamentary Group at the Parliament of Finland. Joonas then moved on to become a Special Adviser to the Prime Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, serving under Prime Minister Sanna Marin from 2019 to 2022.
Joonas'smost recent position is as Chief Economist at Keva, starting in 2022.
Joonas Rahkola attended the University of Helsinki from 2003 to 2008, where they obtained a Master of Social Sciences degree. Joonas'sstudies at the university focused on various subjects including economics, mathematics, statistics, political science, and social policy. In 2006, they also briefly attended Erasmus University Rotterdam, although the specific degree they pursued during this time is not mentioned.
