Matt Volz is an experienced journalist with a robust background in health and news coverage. Currently serving as the Mountain States Editor for KFF Health News since July 2020, Volz coordinates health news coverage and media partnerships across the Mountain West. Prior to this role, Volz spent nearly 18 years at The Associated Press as an Editor and Correspondent, overseeing news coverage in several Rocky Mountain states and holding various editorial positions across the United States. Additional experience includes work as a Public Information Officer at Mercy Corps and as a reporter at New Orleans CityBusiness and News Banner, following earlier service as an English Teacher with the Peace Corps. Volz holds an M.S. in Journalism from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism and a B.A. in International Studies from the University of Richmond.
