Boris Lau

Boris Lau is a seasoned software engineer with extensive experience in system reliability and machine learning operations, currently serving as a Staff Software Engineer at Khan Academy since June 2018. Lau has successfully built machine learning infrastructure and enhanced observability to ensure performance for over 10 million active learners. Prior to this role, Lau held the position of Senior Software Engineer at Mobify, where architecting a new Big Data pipeline was a key responsibility. Lau's entrepreneurial spirit is reflected in the founding of Pathful, which was acquired by Mobify in 2015. Earlier career highlights include significant contributions as a Senior Virus Researcher at Sophos, focusing on automated decision-making engines and malware analysis infrastructure, as well as roles at various technology companies.
