John Laffoon

Dr. John Laffoon joined KidsTLC in the summer of 2020 after serving a variety of roles for Olathe Public Schools for 20 years. Most recently the Director of Special Services for Olathe Public Schools, John also served as a classroom teacher, special education teacher, and alternative education administrator. He has spent the last decade focused on building and sustaining programs to serve at-risk and vulnerable student populations, including the school on KidsTLC campus since 2011. In addition to his years of service to children and families through public education, John also became a licensed mental health professional in December of 2004 and has worked as an outpatient therapist, emergency screener and trainer. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Pittsburg State University, as well as a Master’s of Social Work and Ed.D in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Kansas.
