Allyson Francis has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. In 2005, they worked as a Soccer Referee for Kanata Soccer. From 2008 to 2011, they served as a Shift Supervisor and Technician at Shoppers Drug Mart. In 2012, Allyson joined the University of Waterloo as a member of the SICOPS Research Team, contributing to a pavement maintenance research project. Allyson also worked as a Product Management Assistant at JSI Telecom in the same year. In 2013, they interned at UWAFT, a team focused on alternative fuels and green technologies. In 2014, they had an internship at NCR Corporation, where they contributed to the development of mechanical and electromechanical consumer product designs. That same year, they became the President of the Waterloo Engineering Society. From 2014 to 2018, Allyson worked as a Mechanical Designer at Clearpath Inc., designing hardware for autonomous robotic solutions. Since 2018, they have been a Mechanical Design Engineer at Boxbot, designing automated material handling machinery for the logistics industry. As of 2022, Allyson Francis holds the position of Sr. Mechanical Engineer at Kindred, Part of Ocado Group.
Allyson Francis completed their secondary education from Earl of March Secondary School, earning an Ontario High School Diploma and a Secondary School Extended Arts Certificate with a focus on music. Allyson then pursued a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, where they studied from 2011 to 2016. In addition to their formal education, Allyson also holds certifications in Bronze Cross from the Lifesaving Society, as well as Standard First Aid and CPR B and C. Allyson also has a WHMIS Certificate, although the institution where they obtained it is not specified.
