Simon Young

Simon has a PhD in volcanology and worked for the British Geological Survey, including as Chief Scientist and as the first full-time Director of the Montserrat Volcano Observatory. Simon was CEO of Caribbean Risk Managers Ltd, which helped develop and operate the Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility (CCRIF) and the Microinsurance Catastrophe Risk Organisation (MiCRO). He also provided advisory services to the World Bank other disaster risk management and climate change adaptation projects in the Americas and Asia-Pacific. Simon was also lead Advisor to the African Risk Capacity Insurance Company during its start-up phase, and was also CEO and Chief Underwriting Officer. He continues to provide support to the ARC team in an advisory capacity. In 2016, Simon took on a new role as Strategic Advisor to the Capital, Science & Policy Practice at Willis Towers Watson.
