Weidong Yang

Weidong Yang began their career in 1999 as a Post-Docteral Researcher for the Alivasatos group, Physical Chemistry Dept, UC Berkeley. In 2001, they moved on to become a Scientist for Nanometrics, where they developed OCD software, including RCWA, optimization, parallel computing, and worked on wafer defect inspection and signal/image processing. In 2005, they joined Timbre Technologies, Inc. (A TEL Company) as a Product Manager and Senior Scientist, where they lead and managed the development of a optical CD metrology software, and invented new algorithm for improving CD metrology productivity. In 2012, Yang co-founded a startup, where they worked on social network analysis and data science/visualization. Finally, in 2013, they founded Kinetech Arts, a non-profit at the intersection of Art, Technology and Science, which was named the Best 2014 Sci-Art Collective by SFWeekly. In 2014, they became CEO of Kineviz, Inc.

Weidong Yang's education history includes a Post Doc from the University of California, Berkeley in Physical Chemistry from 1999 to 2001, a Master's Degree from the University of Oregon in Computer and Information Science from 1996 to 1999, a Ph.D. from the University of Oregon in Physics from 1993 to 1999, and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) from Fudan University in Physics from 1985 to 1989.
