Caroline van der Horst

Caroline van der Horst has a long history of working in the agrifood industry. Caroline has held a variety of roles since 1987, beginning with Account Manager at NIZO Food Research. Caroline then held Division Manager roles for Processing Quality & Safety and Process Innovation. From 2004 to 2008, they worked at Tate & Lyle as Global Applications Strategy and Process Manager, Business Development Manager, and General Manager FIPCO. In 2012, they became Director R&D at CNC HOLDING BV, where they set up and implemented a long-term R&D program for the holding, including mushroom processing and substrate production for mushroom growing. In 2019, they took on the role of Programmadirecteur at Wageningen Livestock Research, and also became CTO at Mycelium Materials Europe, where they set up and developed a production process facility. In 2020, they became Board Member at Quality Mark Good Soil and Interim Chief Technology Officer at Photanol. In 2021, they took on the role of Interim CTO at Bosque Foods. Caroline is currently working as a Consultant at HC vanderHorst Agro Food Innovation.

Caroline van der Horst completed their MSc in Food Science and Technology from Wageningen University & Research in 1987. Caroline then attended INSEAD in 2004 for Leadership Transition, in 2002 for Strategic R&D Management, and in 2000 for Financing & Marketing. In 1998, they attended Masterclass Biobusiness NIABA. In 1993, they attended Leeuwendaal for Management in R&D organisations and in 1992 they attended Wageningen University & Research for Advanced Course Membrane Process Engineering. In 2012, they attended Wageningen University & Research for a Post Graduate Course in Intellectual Property Rights in Seed Business and in 2013 they attended Mushroom Office for a Masterclass in Mushroom Composting and Growing.
