Dusten Smith

Dusten Smith has a diverse range of work experience in the field of programming and development. Dusten started their career as a Webmaster at Rocky Brands, Inc., where they built and improved the company's web presence. Dusten also worked with outside vendors to maintain the e-commerce system and created promotional and contest sites using PHP, HTML, CSS, Javascript, and Adobe Flash.

From there, Dusten worked as a Web Developer, designing and building websites for marketing and e-commerce purposes. Dusten collaborated with vendors to implement solutions in the e-commerce systems and developed tools in C#, PHP, and Java to manage web content, inventory, images, and products.

Following their role at Rocky Brands, Dusten transitioned to American Court Services as a Senior Programmer. Here, they were responsible for analyzing, designing, building, and implementing solutions into the company's proprietary web application. Using a LAMP and LEMP stack, they worked on both the back end and front end development using PHP, HTML, Javascript, and CSS.

Next, Dusten joined InXite Health Systems as a Senior Programmer/Dev Ops. Dusten worked with a small team to develop and build an API-first application using PHP Laravel. Dusten also developed and built the company's AWS environments.

Currently, Dusten is employed at Kinship as a Back End Engineer. In this role, they focus on building solutions to aid in pet adoption using PHP and Laravel Framework in an AWS environment. Dusten works with a team of developers and applies SOLID Object-Oriented programming principles to build reusable and extendable services.

Dusten Smith began their education at Hocking College in 2002 and completed their Associates in Computer Programming and Associates in Computer Networking in 2005. Dusten then pursued further education at Franklin University from 2010 to 2016, where they studied Computer Science. Dusten has also obtained additional certifications including the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in September 2019 and the Making the Transition from Staff to Supervisor seminar from Fred Pryor Seminars and CareerTrack.
