Billy McCall has a diverse work experience in the field of science and technology. In 2018, they founded and became the CEO of Kintra Fibers, a company that designs bio-synthetic textile materials that perform like traditional technical fabrics, but degrade like any natural fiber with no harmful effects. From 2015 to 2018, they worked as a Research Scientist at Carbon, where they were responsible for the R&D of functional, 3D printed polymers and worked in cross-functional teams to meet the needs of industry partners and specific market segments. From 2012 to 2015, they worked as a Research Assistant at UC San Diego, where they invented a cheap and scalable process for manufacturing ultra-compliant piezoelectric nanocomposite foams with enhanced pressure sensing abilities. In 2013, they completed an internship at RoBo 3D, where they researched new polymers to be used in Robo's FDM platform, assembled new printers and prepped units for shipping, and brainstormed material/hardware concepts for next generation printers.
Billy McCall earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) in NanoEngineering from UC San Diego in 2013, after completing their studies there from 2008 to 2013. Billy then went on to earn a Master of Science (MS) in NanoEngineering from UC San Diego in 2014.
