Kaela Carter joined KIPP DC in July 2021 as a Special Education ELA Teacher and is currently a Specialized Instructional Coach at KIPP DC Student Support. In this role, she supports teachers in using data to improve instruction, shares instructional strategies and processes with teachers, and demonstrates how to use teaching practices effectively. Kaela Carter is a native of Washington, DC and obtained her Masters in Elementary Education from Trinity University. Prior to joining KIPP DC Kaela Carter worked at Cesar Chavez Public Charter School in various roles during her time there as an AP English teacher, ELA Instructional Coach, Director of Culture, and Assistant Principal. When Kaela Carter isn’t working she can be found cheering at her teenage sons’ basketball games or spending quality time with her two daughters and pet rabbit, Alex.
