Dr. Laquita Tate has extensive work experience in the field of education. Dr. Laquita currently works as a Managing Director at KIPP Memphis Public Schools since January 2022. Prior to joining KIPP, Dr. Tate served in various roles at Shelby County Schools, including Principal, Interim Principal, and Assistant Principal from 2014 to 2022. Dr. Laquita also worked at Memphis City Schools as an Instructional Facilitator and Educator, where they planned lessons, led professional development sessions, and served as a team leader. Dr. Tate's work experience showcases their expertise in instructional leadership and their commitment to improving student outcomes.
Dr. Laquita Tate received a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Elementary Education and Teaching from the University of Memphis in 2003. Dr. Laquita went on to complete a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Elementary Education and Teaching at Cumberland University from 2004 to 2006. Dr. Tate then pursued a Certification in Leadership in Educational Leadership and Administration, General, at Christian Brothers University from 2012 to 2013. Dr. Laquita later obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Educational Psychology from Capella University, completing their studies from 2009 to 2014.
