Melanie Barrios

Melanie Barrios has a diverse work experience, starting in 2019 as an Intake Coordinator at Hadsell Stormer & Renick, LLP. In 2020, they worked as a Pod Instructor at Parker-Anderson Childcare & Enrichment, where they designed and developed curriculum for second graders and preschoolers. In 2021, Melanie joined Teach For America as a 2021 Corps Member, teaching in under-resourced public schools and participating in a virtual summer training program. Melanie then became a 6th Grade Science Teacher at Green Dot Public Schools, where they facilitated rigorous learning and established a culture of respect with students and families. Currently, Melanie works as a 5th Grade Science Teacher at KIPP SoCal Public Schools.

Melanie Barrios has a diverse education history. Melanie earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Architecture from Barnard College, where they attended from 2015 to 2019. In 2018, they also briefly studied at UCLA, although no specific degree or field of study is mentioned. Prior to their college education, Melanie completed their high school education at Stevenson School from 2011 to 2015.

Recently, Melanie pursued further education at Loyola Marymount University, where they are currently pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Urban Education. Melanie began this program in 2021 and is expected to complete it in 2023.

In addition to their academic achievements, Melanie has obtained several certifications. In April 2021, they earned a Certificate of Clearance from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. In May 2022, they obtained an Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification from the American Red Cross, as well as a Single Subject Teaching Credential from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
