Lawrence Chu

Lawrence Chu has a diverse work experience highlighted by roles in education, research, and data analysis. Lawrence is currently employed by KIPP Texas Public Schools as the Senior Director of Analytics, Research & Evaluation. Prior to this, Lawrence worked as a Data Analyst for the same organization. Lawrence also held positions at the Texas Advanced Computing Center, where they served as a Graduate Research Assistant conducting evaluations for various programs, and at the University of Texas at Austin, where they worked as a Project Manager and Instructor. In the field of education, Lawrence has experience as a Lead Teacher at KIPP Bay Area Schools and as a Teacher at the West Contra Costa Unified School District. Lawrence also spent time as a Corps Member for Teach For America. Lawrence has a research background as well, having worked as a Research Intern at the University of California, San Francisco and a Chemistry Lab Assistant at UC Berkeley. Overall, Lawrence Chu has a wide range of experience in education, research, and data analysis.

Lawrence Chu received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Integrative Biology and Music from the University of California, Berkeley. Lawrence then earned a Single Subject Credential in Physical Sciences from Loyola Marymount University. Later, they pursued a Master's degree in Urban Education, with an emphasis in Policy and Administration, from Loyola Marymount University. Lawrence completed their education by attaining a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Education from The University of Texas at Austin.
