Richard Parsons has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Currently, they are the Founder & CEO of Kite Magnetics, a company focused on developing technologies for electric aviation. Prior to that, they worked as an Adjunct Lecturer and Monash X-ray Platform Manager at Monash University. In these roles, they oversaw operations, led a team, and collaborated with academics and industry stakeholders. Richard also served as an Assistant Lecturer and Postdoctoral Research Fellow, conducting research on magnetic materials. Additionally, they were a PHD Candidate during their time at Monash University, focusing on the development of magnetically soft materials. Richard has also been recognized for their work as a Wild Futures Finalist at Blackbird and as a Startmate Fellow at Startmate.
Richard Parsons completed their education at Monash University. Richard obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Materials Science in the years 2007 to 2010. Subsequently, in 2011, they pursued an Honours degree in Materials Science, again at Monash University. Richard completed their formal education with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Materials Science and Engineering from Monash University between 2012 and 2015.
