Dahleen is a former news columnist for the Chicago Tribune, which she joined after working at the Los Angeles Times. She held several positions over her 30-year career, ranging from associate metropolitan editor to national correspondent and Atlanta bureau chief. As a longtime reporter, she covered some of the biggest stories of the last three decades, including Hurricane Katrina, President Barack Obama’s 2008 election, national gun laws, and military families during the Iraq War. As a columnist, she encouraged dialogue on politics, race, poverty, and violence.
