Ismail specializes in media and government relations, issue advocacy, and foreign policy. He works across a range of sectors in digital engagement, strategic communications, media outreach, and public policy initiatives.

Previously, Ismail served as president of the Bosnian Advocacy Center, a Sarajevo-based NGO that advocates for a free, sovereign, democratic, and secular Bosnia and Herzegovina. In that role, he liaised with heads of states, U.S. Congressional legislators, European parliamentarians, and other government officials to advance policy goals related to Bosnia’s international position. He also spearheaded several major policy-related initiatives, including in-depth research to find anti-Bosnian lobbying efforts. Subsequently, he led the ensuing media campaign that would result in shifting Bosnia’s position on lobbying in the United States at the highest governmental levels.

Ismail regularly appears on the media circuit and has published op-eds and political commentary in major international outlets such as CNN, Al Jazeera English, Middle East Eye, Just Security, and more.
