Wagdy Samir

Wagdy Samir has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Wagdy is currently the Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Klarrio APAC, a global provider of professional services in data engineering, devops, data science, and analytics. In this role, they manage operations in the Asia Pacific region and focuses on building data-handling platforms and machine-learning applications using open-source software.

Prior to Klarrio, Wagdy Samir served as the Managing Director and Co-Founder of VSEA PTY LTD from 2015 to 2017. Before that, they held the position of Managing Director for Technology Solutions at Cisco Systems in the Asia Pacific, Japan, and China regions from 2012 to 2014.

Wagdy Samir also worked as the Senior Vice President of Strategy and Corporate Development at Technicolor from 2008 to 2012. Wagdy was also a Principal in the Internet Business Solutions Group at Cisco from 2006 to 2008.

Wagdy'searlier experience includes working as the Director of Business Development at Alcatel from 2002 to 2006 and as a Senior Business Development Manager at Telecom New Zealand from 2001 to 2002.

Before transitioning to the corporate sector, Wagdy Samir worked at IBM Global Services. Wagdy held the roles of Corporate Strategy and Market Development Executive from 1997 to 2001 and Management Consultant in the IBM Consulting Group from 1995 to 1997.

As a Research Fellow, Wagdy Samir also contributed to the field of mathematics while working at the University of New South Wales from 1993 to 1995.

Wagdy Samir pursued their education with a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) degree in Telecommunications from UNSW, graduating in 1988. Following this, they went on to complete their PhD in Applied Mathematics at UNSW, which they obtained between 1991 and 1993. In 1995, Samir joined AGSM @ UNSW Business School for an MBA in Management, which they completed in 1996. Later, they pursued a PhD in Theology/Theological Studies from the Sydney College of Divinity, which they are expected to complete in 2022.
