Jie Wu has a long and varied work experience. In 2017, they worked as a Principal Software Engineer/Senior Manager at Kneron, where they built up a Machine Learning/Deep Neural Network Algorithm development team for IoT/ADAS projects and a pure software platform team for porting AI models into software SDK to support different HW platforms. Jie also led the team to train AI models, specializing in the computer vision field. From 2015 to 2017, they worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Notre Dame. From 2013 to 2015, they were a Postdoctoral Fellow at Missouri S&T, where they researched statistical modeling and optimization for reliability of large-scale power-grid systems. Jie invented the anomaly detection algorithm for the energy management system (EMS) in power system and collaborated with Ameren Corporation to implement a real-time anomaly detection framework based on SCADA data analysis. From 2013 to 2014, they were a Cooperative Research Scientist at IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center, where they built a statistical model for identification of multiple transmission line outages and invented a globally optimal placement algorithm for monitoring sensors. From 2007 to 2013, they worked as a Research Assistant at Tsinghua University, where they built a large-scale energy storage system model and invented C++ based statistical optimization algorithms. In 2011, they were a Research Intern at IBM Microelectronics China Design Center. From 2009 to 2010, they were a Research Scholar at the University of Colorado Boulder and a Summer Intern at Jiangsu Xinguanglian Technology Co., Ltd., where they proposed a system implementation of a novel E-Reader product and worked on designing the friendly interface framework.
Jie Wu attended Tsinghua University from 2007 to 2013, where they earned a Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering. From 2009 to 2010, they were a non-matriculated student at the University of Colorado Boulder, studying Electrical, Computer, and Energy Engineering.
