As a public health agency, we work to promote and protect the health of our community where people live, learn, work and play. We track diseases, conduct health education/outreach, provide care, enforce food safety and air quality laws, prepare for emergencies, and more. We have nine divisions and employ more than 260 professionals including public health educators, epidemiologists, physicians, environmentalists, nurses, nutritionists, emergency preparedness specialists and many others.

The Public Health Team at the Knox County Health Department focuses on promoting and safeguarding the health of the community. Members work on disease tracking, health education and outreach, providing direct care, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. The team includes specialists such as epidemiologists, public health educators, environmental health experts, and nurses, all dedicated to enhancing community well-being through a range of preventive and responsive health strategies.
