Michael Morford serves as the Chairman & CEO of Knudsen Institute, as well as a Founding Board Member of the Oklahoma Defense Industry Association. With experience in various companies such as Sustainment and VertiPrime Government Services, their background includes roles as a Corporate Executive and President & CEO. Morford is also involved in organizations like the Truman National Security Project and NDIA of the Lone Star & Sooner States. Michael holds a Bachelor of Engineering from Tulane University, as well as a Master of Business Administration from Tulane University - A.B. Freeman School of Business.

The Knudsen Institute for Applied Research on Surge Theory is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Our mission is to enable the surge capacity of the U.S. defense industrial base in support of our nation’s warfighters by identifying and integrating SMMs at scale through an integrated approach of emerging technology, workforce, and policy solutions. The Institute works to advance America’s defense industrial base surge capacity, with a focus on small & medium manufacturers (SMMs). We seek to evoke the spirit of William S. Knudsen, the architect of America’s defense manufacturing base during World War II, to be a catalyst towards the resurgence of SMMs engaged in supporting our nation’s warfighters.
