The Knudsen Institute for Applied Research on Surge Theory is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Our mission is to enable the surge capacity of the U.S. defense industrial base in support of our nation’s warfighters by identifying and integrating SMMs at scale through an integrated approach of emerging technology, workforce, and policy solutions.

The Institute works to advance America’s defense industrial base surge capacity, with a focus on small & medium manufacturers (SMMs). We seek to evoke the spirit of William S. Knudsen, the architect of America’s defense manufacturing base during World War II, to be a catalyst towards the resurgence of SMMs engaged in supporting our nation’s warfighters.
