Managing Director, Nordics at Kobalt Music

Johan Ekelund is the Managing Director of Nordics at Kobalt Music. Johan has over 15 years of experience in the music industry, with a focus on independent music labels and publishers.

Johan started their career in 2004 as a Board member of STIM, the Swedish Performing Rights Society. In this role, they were responsible for the administration of musical works and the representation of rights to musical works on a global scale. In 2008, they co-founded Family Tree Music AB, an independent record company with leading labels Razzia Records Selective Notes and Catchy Tunes. The company was acquired by Sony Music in 2013.

In 2014, Johan joined Kobalt Music Group as a Co-founder and Board Director. Kobalt is a global music and technology company that provides innovative solutions for artists, songwriters, publishers and labels. In their current role as Managing Director of Nordics, Johan is responsible for Kobalt’s operations in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland.

Johan Ekelund has a degree from EMS - Institute for Electroacoustic Music in Sweden.

Their manager is Jeannette Perez, President & COO. They are on a team with Paul Hitchman - President, AWAL, Simon Moor - Managing Director, APAC, and Scott Farrant - Global Head of Operations.
