Iris Hwang

Iris is a mechanical engineer and data scientist with two years of experience in the energy industry. Prior to joining KoBold Metals, she was a completions optimization engineer with a large independent operator. After serving as a wellsite supervisor overseeing hydraulic fracturing operations in West Texas, she transitioned to an engineering role, leveraging data processing, computational methods, and physics-based approaches to optimize operations. She also has experience in software product management and machine learning in oil and gas applications.

Iris graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2020 with a B.S. in mechanical engineering and a minor in computer science. She is vivaciously curious and passionate about bringing heavy industries along in fighting climate change.
