Nick Williams

Principal Geophysicist at KoBold Metals

Nick specializes in advanced integration of geology and geophysics through geophysical inversion and numerical analysis. With over 20 years of exploration experience he has analyzed the geophysical footprints of copper, gold, and nickel deposits on six continents.

He joined Geoscience Australia in 2001 where he studied the geochemical and geophysical exploration vectors for numerous major copper, gold, and nickel deposits across Australia. In 2011 he joined the Ivanhoe group where he targeted expansions of the Kamoa (copper) and Oyu Tolgoi (copper-gold) deposits and used integrated geological and geophysical modeling to help significantly expand the Platreef Ni-PGE-Cu-Au deposit in South Africa.

As part of the founding team at High Power Exploration he led the deployment of a new generation of electrical survey methods to explore for copper, gold, and nickel deposits and groundwater under deep cover in Australia, Africa, and North and South America.

Most recently with Barrick, he helped define the geophysical footprint of the high-grade Goldrush-Fourmile gold deposit in Nevada and completed the integration and analysis of the world class geophysical databases from both Newmont and Barrick over all the major gold deposits of the Carlin district under the Nevada Gold Mines JV.

He holds a Ph.D. in Geophysics from the University of British Columbia and a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Geology from CODES at the University of Tasmania.
