Cathrine Andersen

Special Representative For Protection Of Civilians, Humanitarian Affairs at KOMMUNAL- OG MODERNISERINGS- DEPARTEMENTET

Cathrine Andersen has extensive experience in humanitarian affairs and protection of civilians, serving as the Special Representative for Protection of Civilians and Humanitarian Affairs at Utenriksdepartementet since July 2016. Prior to this role, Andersen held the position of Minister Counsellor for Humanitarian Affairs at the Norwegian Mission to the UN in Geneva from 2012 to July 2016. Additional roles include Project Manager at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs focusing on the decent work agenda (2009-2012), Senior Adviser on Norway's national interest and globalization (2007-2009), and Information Adviser at the Secretariat of the Minister of Foreign Affairs (2003-2007). Andersen's career began with positions related to human rights and political analysis, including serving as a Monitor/Analyst for the EUMM Croatia & BiH and a Monitor/Political Analyst for the OSCE Mission to Croatia. Academically, Andersen holds an MA in International Law, International Relations, and Diplomacy from SOAS University of London, and a Cand.Mag in Political Science and Sociology from the University of Oslo.
