John Petter Opdahl

John Petter Opdahl has extensive experience in diplomatic roles, currently serving as Senior Advisor at the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs since September 2022 and as Ambassador at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Bogotá since April 2018. Previous positions include Ambassador on Special Mission for Migration from August 2016 to April 2018 and Ambassador at the Norwegian Embassy in Havana from January 2011 to August 2016. John also held the position of Deputy Director General at the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs from August 2007 to December 2010, and Counselor at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in London from August 2003 to February 2007. Earlier career positions include Assistant Director General at the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs from August 1999 to August 2003. Academic credentials include a Master of Arts in International Relations from American University (1986-1988) and a Cand. Mag. in Social Anthropology, Geography, Media, and Foreign Policy from Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) (1983-1986).
