Marco Marquez

Marco Marquez has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over several years. Marco started their career as a Technology Team Intern at Goldman Sachs in 2007, where they provided desktop support to a large number of employees and contributed to infrastructure upgrade planning. In 2008, they returned to Goldman Sachs as a Network Desktop Solution (NDS) Technology Intern, where they gained experience in configuring and administering Citrix XP/VMWare ESX server farms, as well as providing desktop support.

In 2009, Marco joined Planisware as a Technical Consultant II. In this role, they implemented Planisware's software solution and provided customer support, advising clients on how to use the software effectively to meet objectives and improve organizational efficiency. Marco worked on the development and implementation of Project, Resource, and Portfolio management systems for Alcon and Roche.

Marco then moved on to Box in 2012, where they worked as a Technical Consultant. Marco provided business, advisory, and technical skills to Box's important customers, designing and implementing systems and solving technical and business problems based on customer requirements.

In 2014, Marco joined New Relic, Inc. as a Technical Partner Manager, responsible for managing technical partnerships and complementing sales relationships as a technical consultant for enterprise class SaaS products. Marco also led LatAm technical sales engineering, significantly increasing revenue in the region. Later, they transitioned to the role of US SMB & LatAm Enterprise Sales Engineer, contributing to the acquisition of over 1.4M USD in new ARR within their first two quarters.

Most recently, Marco has been working at Kong Inc. since 2017. Marco started as a Senior Solutions Architect and achieved notable accomplishments, including being recognized as a Top Performer Solutions Architect for EMEA and globally in multiple fiscal years. Marco received the award for "Global Sales Engineer of the Year" and was a member of the Kings and Queens club in FY2021. Marco played a key role in expanding Kong's business in Europe, LatAm, and EMEA, generating a significant portion of the company's quarterly ACV. Marco created and delivered training for customers and partners and provided live demos of Kong's API Gateway while collaborating with the Product and Platform team.

Marco Marquez obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a specialization in Entrepreneurship/Entrepreneurial Studies from WU Executive Academy from 2016 to 2018. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computational Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley from 2005 to 2009. Additionally, Marco pursued education at City College of San Francisco from 2010 to 2012, although they did not complete a degree there.

In terms of certifications, Marco Marquez has obtained several. In January 2020, they became an AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate from Amazon Web Services (AWS). In April 2022, they achieved the certification of CKA: Certified Kubernetes Administrator from The Linux Foundation. Subsequently, in July 2022, Marco obtained the CKAD: Certified Kubernetes Application Developer certification from the same institution.
