Rik van Hal

Vice President Finance - Global Business Development at Vopak

Rik van Hal has a diverse range of work experience. Rik started their career at PwC, where they served as a Senior Manager in Capital Markets and Accounting Advisory Services, providing expert advice on complex accounting and reporting topics. Rik also worked as a Manager in Assurance, leading audits for various companies and providing training to team members.

After their time at PwC, Rik joined Vopak, a global tank storage company, where they held several senior finance roles. Rik served as the Director of Finance & Control for Vopak Energy Terminals Netherlands, overseeing the financial aspects of the company's energy terminals. Rik later became the Director of Finance & Control for Vopak Americas Division, where they had a strong focus on business development projects. Rik also served as the Finance Director for Vopak New Energies & LNG Division, responsible for the financial aspects of the division's operations and project development.

Outside of Vopak, Rik contributed to the academic community as a part-time lecturer at the Erasmus School of Accounting & Assurance. Rik taught courses in financial accounting and capital markets communication. Rik also served as a member of the Advisory Board for the Master Programs in Accounting, Auditing, Finance & Control at the Erasmus School of Economics, providing input from the corporate sector.

Rik has also been involved in various pension fund organizations. Rik served as a member of the Board of Trustees and Chief Risk Officer for the Vopak Pension Fund.

Additionally, Rik has served on the Supervisory Boards of several companies in the LNG industry, including SPEC LNG, Engro Elengy Terminal Limited, and Terminal de LNG de Altamira.

Earlier in their career, Rik worked as a lecturer at Hogeschool voor Economische Studies Rotterdam, where they taught courses in finance and accounting.
