Tim von Toerne is an experienced entrepreneur and advisor with a diverse background in the technology and digital industries. Tim co-founded Kopernikus Automotive in 2016, where they served as the Co-Founder and COO. At Kopernikus Automotive, they focused on designing a middleware product to bridge "car-tech" and the software world for self-driving automotive solutions.
In addition to their role at Kopernikus Automotive, Tim von Toerne has been involved in various other professional ventures. Tim founded and worked as the CEO of Man & Stone Capital since 2006, where they supported and advised digital startup companies in Europe. Tim also worked as an interim CEO at 4LITTLE, which is part of Kanz Financial Holding GmbH/Kids Fashion Group.
Tim von Toerne has held mentorship roles at Founder Institute and lecturing roles at SHIFTSCHOOL. Tim has also served as a member of the Advisory Board at 2b AHEAD ThinkTank.
Prior to their work at Kopernikus Automotive, Tim von Toerne worked at Otto Group, one of the world's largest e-commerce companies, where they served as an Intrapreneur, CEO, and advisor. During their time at Otto Group, they advised on integrating Turkish subsidiaries into the company's structure and served as the CEO of QUELLE GmbH.
Before joining Otto Group, Tim von Toerne co-founded cellity and worked as a Senior Manager at Nokia. After Nokia's acquisition of cellity, they managed the transition of the team and technology into Nokia. Tim also worked as a General Manager at Skype and as the CEO of edict egaming GmbH and eyePROM GmbH.
Tim von Toerne's education history includes the following:
- From 2002 to 2004, they pursued an Executive MBA in Business Administration and Management, General at the Kellogg-WHU Executive MBA program.
- During the same period, they also obtained an MBA degree with a focus on Executive MBA from Northwestern University - Kellogg School of Management.
- Tim additionally earned an MBA in Exec. MBA from WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management in 2004.
- Between 1991 and 1996, they attended Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg, where they obtained a Diplom-Kaufmann degree, equivalent to a Master of Science (MSc) degree, in Business Administration.
- In their earlier years, from 1981 to 1990, they attended Gymnasium Oberalster, where they completed their German high school degree (Abitur). Their major subjects during this period were Geography, English, Math, and IT.
- Lastly, in 1987 and 1988, they spent a year at Lake Washington High School, although no specific degree or field of study information is available for that time.
