Ekaterina Kochmar

Ekaterina Kochmar is an accomplished academic and entrepreneur with extensive experience in artificial intelligence and natural language processing. Currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Natural Language Processing Department at MBZUAI, Ekaterina conducts research that integrates AI, NLP, and intelligent tutoring systems. As a co-founder and Chief Science Officer of Korbit AI, an EdTech startup focused on developing intelligent tutoring solutions, Ekaterina leverages machine learning to enhance online education. Prior roles include Lecturer at the University of Bath and Senior Research Associate at the University of Cambridge, where Ekaterina specialized in automated language teaching and assessment. Ekaterina's educational background includes a Ph.D. and an MPhil in Computer Science from the University of Cambridge, as well as a Master's in Computational Linguistics from the University of Tübingen.
