Steve Wattam

Steve Wattam is an accomplished data science leader with a robust academic and professional background in computational linguistics, natural language processing, and data-driven insights. Currently serving as the Head of Data Science at KrakenFlex within the Octopus Energy Group, Steve directs a cross-disciplinary team focused on optimizing the green energy sector. Previous roles include Directorship at WAP Academic Consultancy Limited and various research positions at Lancaster University, where contributions encompassed the design and implementation of NLP toolchains and the development of innovative tools for linguistic analysis and social media data. Steve holds a Ph.D. in Computational Linguistics and Applied Statistics from Lancaster University, alongside a Master's in Applied Social Statistics and a Bachelor's in Computer Science Innovation.
