Kenny Borthwick

Kenny Borthwick has extensive experience in anti-money laundering and financial crime investigation, currently serving as the MLRO for Kraken Digital Asset Exchange since January 2022, overseeing the UK AML program. Prior to this role, Kenny held various leadership positions at HSBC from October 2017 to December 2021, including Head of Major Investigations UK and Senior Manager for multiple investigation teams focused on internal investigations, terrorism finance, and proactive investigations across Europe. Earlier experience includes roles at the UK Government, where responsibilities involved intelligence operations and investigations, as well as positions as a commercial lawyer with Hadden Rankin and BW Solicitors. Kenny earned a Diploma in Legal Practice and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Aberdeen.
