Eirlys Lloyd has extensive work experience in the legal field. Eirlys began their career as an Apprentice Solicitor at Courtney Crawford and Company (now Aitken Nairn) in Edinburgh in 1972. Eirlys then worked as a Solicitor and Notary Public at Skene Edwards Garson (now Morton Fraser) from 1974 to 1976, and later at Allan McDougall in Edinburgh from 1976 to 1983.

Afterward, they joined the Faculty of Advocates in Edinburgh in 1983 and served as an Advocate until 1998. During their time at the Faculty, Eirlys also took on additional roles, including being a part-time Chairman of the Disability Appeals Tribunal from 1990 to 1994 and a part-time Chairman of the Social Security and Income Support Appeals Tribunal from 1985 to 1994.

From 1993 to 2005, Eirlys owned and operated their own law firm, 28 Northumberland Street & Abercromby House, in Edinburgh.

In 1991, they became a Barrister at Middle Temple in London, where they continue to work to the present day. Eirlys has also been providing corporate advice at KSA Group Ltd, a Company Rescue Experts firm since November 2008. Eirlys previously worked as a Barrister and Corporate Advice at KSA Group Ltd from 2008 to August 2022.

Eirlys Lloyd attended the University of Edinburgh from 1967 to 1972, where they pursued a LLB degree in Law. Prior to their time at the university, they attended Wellington School, Ayr, although the exact duration and field of study remain unknown.
