Mark Jakubauskas

Program Director - Health Sciences at The University of Kansas

Mark Jakubauskas has a diverse work experience in various roles and positions. Mark started their career at the Kansas Biological Survey in 1998 as a Research Associate Professor, where they focused on lake and reservoir assessment, bathymetric surveys, sediment coring and analysis. Mark worked there until 2014. In 2012, they joined the KU Environmental Studies Program as the Director of the Professional Science Masters in Environmental Assessment program. Mark held this position until 2019. In 2014, they also became the Director of Professional Science Masters Programs at the University of Kansas, a position they held until 2019. From 2016 to 2019, they served as the Director of Health and Science Programs, where they developed academic and professional education science programs for the Edwards Campus. From 2019 to 2023, they served as the Director for Research at the University of Kansas. Most recently, they hold the position of Program Director in Health Sciences at the University of Kansas since January 2021, and Teaching Professor in the Environmental Studies Program since July 2020.

Mark Jakubauskas earned a PhD in Physical Geography from The University of Kansas from 1988 to 1994. Prior to that, they completed their MA in Physical Geography at Indiana State University from 1986 to 1988. Mark began their education by obtaining a BA in Physical Geography/Geology from SUNY Geneseo from 1982 to 1986.
