Joonas Sirola

Joonas Sirola has a diverse work experience in the field of medicine and academia. Joonas started their career as a Fellow in Orthopedics at Mikkeli Central Hospital in 2005 and later became a Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon at Kuopio University Hospital (KUH). Joonas also served as the Chief Medical Officer and Assistant Chief of the Emergency Department (Orthopedics) at KUH.

In 2004, Sirola worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Eastern Finland and later held various positions including Associate Professor, Adjunct Professor, Professor, and Research Director. Joonas also worked as a Clinical Lecturer in Orthopedics and Surgery at the university.

Sirola has also worked outside of academia and healthcare, serving as a Medical Advisor at the Insurance Court of Finland and as the owner of Ortostock Holding Oy. Joonas has been a Member of the Council for Choices in Health Care in Finland (COHERE) - Division of Medical Imaging since 2021.

Furthermore, Sirola has been involved in professional organizations such as the Finnish Bone Society ry, where they served as a Board Member and Treasurer. Joonas was also the Current Care Editor at Duodecim Medical Publications Ltd.

From 2005 to 2010, Joonas Sirola attended the University of Eastern Finland, where they pursued a degree in Medicine. Joonas successfully completed the program and obtained the title of Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon.
