Javier Gimpel

Javier Gimpel has extensive work experience in the field of biotechnology. Javier started their career in 2010 as a Biology PhD student at the University of California, San Diego. After completing their PhD, they worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso for six months before moving on to the Universidad de Chile, where they worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow for three years. In 2018, Javier joined uBiome as a Team Leader, a role they held until early 2019. Javier then joined Protera Biosciences as a Senior Protein Engineer, where they worked until November 2019. Currently, they are the Head Scientist at Kura Biotech, a position they have held since November 2019.

Javier Gimpel earned their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology/Biological Sciences from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, where they studied from 2003 to 2008. Subsequently, from 2010 to 2014, they pursued their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Molecular Biology at UC San Diego.
