Robert Armstrong has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Robert started their career as a Process Technician at Transpak Industries in 1988, where they were responsible for transitioning products from developmental to commercial production. Robert'srole included conducting experiments with new materials and flexible packaging structures, as well as characterizing polymers and polymer films using physical analytical techniques. In 1993, they joined American Plastics as a Production Manager, overseeing the management of production operations and product development. During their time there, they successfully installed and started up process and auxiliary equipment for a greenfield plant and developed a product portfolio for target markets. In 1996, Armstrong joined Kuraray America, Inc. as the Director of Technical Service & Development. Robert'sresponsibilities included providing technical support to key customers, managing application and product development of resins for barrier packaging, and leading global development and commercialization efforts for new EVOH (ethylene vinyl alcohol) products. Throughout their tenure, Armstrong achieved significant accomplishments, such as increasing sales in a key market segment by more than 20% and receiving the President's Award in 2001 for a product developed for coextrusion coating applications. In more recent years, they held positions of increasing responsibility within Kuraray, including Plant Manager of EVAL and General Manager of the EVAL Business Unit. Armstrong's most recent role at Kuraray is Project Director, a position they assumed in August 2021.
Robert Armstrong completed their BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Houston from 2000 to 2007. Prior to that, they obtained a NZCE in Mechanical Engineering from Auckland University of Technology during the years 1989 to 1991.
