Mehmet Emre Baştopçu

VP of Infrastructure Treatment & Operation at Kuzu Grup

He was born in 1975 in Ankara. He graduated from Robert College in 1993. He graduated from Boğaziçi University, Department of Civil Engineering in 1997. He completed his Master's Degree in the same department at Boğaziçi University in 2000 and earned his Ph.D. in 2006. In 2003, he joined the KUZU Mass Housing Construction company and was involved in the private sector operation of İSKİ Wastewater Treatment Plants, which is a first in Turkey. Between 2008-2012, he carried out the construction of İstanbul Paşaköy, Tuzla and Düzce advanced biological wastewater treatment plants, and between 2009-2015 the World Bank Antalya Hurma, İSKİ Büyükçekmece, Çanta, and Silivri Wastewater Treatment Facilities. Within the scope of these projects, in the field of environmental technologies in Turkey; he managed to break new ground in many applications such as cogeneration sludge drying, wastewater SF-UV recovery, advanced odor removal. From 2017 to 2020, he played a managerial role in winning and realizing the tenders for the works of West Tehran, Beirut Burj Hammoud Wastewater Treatment Plant, BUSKİ Sludge Incineration, and İSKİ Baltalimanı Wastewater Treatment Plant, with loans from the Islamic Development and European Investment Bank. During his management, KUZU Group became an international leading player in the field of environmental technologies. He is married with three children.
