Gertrude Carter, M.D. has a vast career in healthcare, primarily serving in executive roles. Gertrude began their career as a Practicing Pediatrician at Hawthorne Community Medical Group in 1977. Gertrude later became the Regional Medical Director at the same organization from 1987 to 1992. In 1992, they joined Mullikin Medical as the Group Vice President of Medical Affairs until 1996. Gertrude then worked as the Chief Medical Officer at MedPartners from 1996 to 1998 and Catholic Health Care West from 1998 to 2002. From 2003 to 2005, they served as the Chief Medical Officer at Schaller Anderson. Following that, they joined CalOptima as their Chief Medical Officer from 2005 to 2012. Currently, they hold the position of Chief Medical Officer at L.A. Care Health Plan since November 2012.

Gertrude Carter, M.D. earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Howard University from 1966 to 1970. Following this, they attended The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine from 1970 to 1974 and obtained a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) in the field of Medicine.
